Cycle-Works attended the ‘My Journey Business Conference’ run by Sustrans at the Guildhall in Portsmouth on Tuesday 8th April 2014.
The conference was aimed at SME’s with a workforce of less than 250 and who are based in the South East of England. The emphasis was on saving time and money by rethinking the way businesses choose their travel options. The benefits to a business could be reduced travel costs, less demand for car park spaces and better use of staff time. There are also environmental and health benefits through a modal shift to cycling and walking and away from driving the car.
By attending the conference we also learned that there are grants available to businesses that could cut the costs of installing secure cycle parking of up to £1000 for only spending £2000 – ie they pay only £1000 instead of £2000 (Match Funded).
