Paul Best, Project Manager at Southern Railway, was the unanimous winner of the Cycling Champion Award at the recent ATOC Cycle Rail Awards 2012 held at the Houses of Parliament.
Southern Railway had a target of installing 1,500 new secure cycle parking spaces by 2013 but Paul smashed this target early and has gone on to add a further 500 spaces to end up with a total of 2,000 spaces over 89 stations across the Southern network. This has included some innovative ways of accommodating cycle parking with 2-tier cycle racks at a number of stations including Southern’s first Cycle Hub at Haywards Heath.
Cycle-Works has very much been a part of Paul’s and Southern’s success by supplying and installing the Josta 2-tier system now widely used at a number of Southern’s stations including Sutton, Brighton, Hove, Horsham, Bognor Regis and Haywards Heath.
