Josta® Wall Rack on frameworks

Overview

The popular and easy-to-use Josta wall rack can be mounted onto frameworks for sites where it is impossible to fix the rack to the wall.

Features & Benefits

  • Sturdy and safe frameworks
  • Neat and organised vertical parking
  • 90, 60, 45 and 30 degree angles available, orientation to the left or right
  • Optional security bar provides locking points for the bike frame

Why this product is so good

The frameworks are usually used for sites where the walls are too weak to bear the full weight of the bike, or where the wall cannot be drilled into due to leasing arrangements or for cosmetic reasons.

These sturdy and well-constructed frameworks and racks hold the bicycle securely in place, while the (optional) security bar provides a locking point for the bike frame. This results in neat and organised individual parking.

Apart from the standard 90 degree option, the racks and security bars can be delivered at 60, 45 and 30 degree angles to the left or right. This allows the racks to be fitted to narrow sites.

This cycle rack can be used to help demonstrate compliance with BREEAM and achieve a high BREEAM rating.*
This cycle rack can be used to help contribute towards gaining your 2 ENE8 Cycle Storage Credits when used in an appropriate situation, under the Code for Sustainable Homes.

Layout & Space Requirements
Spacing

The racks are staggered in height and spaced at 420-450mm. Please allow 300mm to the left and right for the handlebars of the first bike.

Capacity

Frameworks can be as long as required.
Each wall rack holds one bicycle.

Dimensions
  • Framework: The dimensions of these frameworks are adjusted to fit your specific site
  • Rack: 300mm high and 300m out from the wall
  • Security bar (recommended): 870mm to 1,100mm out from the wall
Mounting/Installation

The racks and bars are fixed to the framework. The framework is then bolted to the ground.

Materials, Locking Mechanisms & Accessories
Material Options

The frameworks are made of 100mm mild steel box section, which is then galvanised. These racks are made of 14mm diameter galvanised steel bar. They are usually galvanised but can also be powder coated.

Locking Mechanisms & Options

The cyclist can lock the bike frame and wheels to the security bar using their own chain or D-lock.
If the rack is installed without a security bar, the bike can be locked to the rack or the framework using a long chain.

Accessories

Security bar
We strongly recommend installing the rack together with a security bar. This allows the cyclist to lock the frame and wheels.

Issues & FAQ
Issues to consider

Security

The security bar provides many locking points for a bike.
However, the racks are only as good as the user’s lock. The bikes are visible to potential thieves and vandals, and they are open to the elements (unless under a shelter). Accessories, wheels and saddles can be stolen from them.

Please see our product range for more long-term secure bicycle parking.
